My beautiful Mila,
I could not have planned it better- your daddy and I found out about you around 4am on a perfect Saturday morning. After questioning the double lines, we could not go back to sleep. We sat on the couch reeling in pure joy and excitement, contemplating what life would now be like. That perfect Saturday was also your late great-grandfather’s birthday and Father’s Day.
On the day you were born, I was beyond ecstatic. We had speculated so much about who you would look like and what you would be like. I just could not wait to hold you in my arms and look at you for the first time. That moment was finally here and of course, you were PERFECT in every.single.way. You changed our lives forever! You made us parents and everything made so much more sense. Without knowing, you provided us a new meaning to life, and we cannot thank you enough for that.
Today, your daddy and I boast about your daily milestones, text each other photos so we each have them all, and revel in the little human you have become. You constantly want to cook everyone “chicken and french fries” in your kitchen. You love being a doctor and always check our hearts to make sure it’s “great.” You put your baby to sleep about twenty times a day, she accompanies us everywhere we go, then goes to sleep with you every night. You love to tell people, “bye bye, see you,” then offer a smooch [including the cashier at Target]. You have the most loving, gentle and caring spirit with other children. You really do love cars, and that makes your grandfather pretty proud. You have some killer dance moves and love to sing “happy birthday.” You can count to 20!!! Yes, 20!!! And you recognize most of your letters. We are totally convinced you are borderline genius – I mean, you are also trilingual. One more thing -I melt every single time I hear you yell out “mama” or “mommy” and I am so surprised, yet beyond amazed by your strong, vivacious, and sassy personality. Baby, although you really can test me at times, I hope that never changes!
So here I am, on your 2nd birthday… envisioning your future, while in disbelief of how fast this day has come. I am excited for all of your future milestones [and mommy-daughter shopping + mani/pedis]. For now, I want you to always know how loved you are and how much we prayed for you. I want you to know we will always support you, encourage you and be here to guide you. I want you to experience the most amazing of adventures. I hope you take on this world fearlessly and remain resilient. Stand up for what you believe and always help others. Develop and cherish healthy and meaningful relationships. Be strong and be courageous. There will be challenges along the way, and I hope you face them with confidence. I want you to always be yourself, as there is no one in the world like you. I want you to know you can do absolutely anything you set your mind to. And I can only hope you never forget these words …..
Happy Birthday my love!
